P4 have a visit from local children’s author, Declan Carville.
The aspiring young authors and illustrators of P4, really enjoyed a visit from Declan Carville today. Declan told the boys and girls how listening to the story ‘Hansel and Gretel’ on a vinyl record in his childhood inspired him to create his own stories. He read some of his books to us including ‘The Incredible Sister Bridget’, ‘The Fairy Glen’ (which many of the class have visited) and of course, ‘The Magic Harp’. Declan showed us lots of sample work from all his illustrators and Joseph showed him some illustrations he has been doing.
Declan also shared his Top Ten Tips for being a good writer and explored story structure with P4. Who knows, perhaps we have a future author sitting in our midst in P4!
