Hyster Yale visit P7
P7 welcomed Esther and Jason from the Hyster-Yale Group for a fascinating talk on what goes on at their factory and assembly line in Craigavon. The children learned all about the different roles and responsibilities within the factory, the stages of production and quality assurance and where the products end up. Along the way Esther and Jason answered a wide range of questions posed by our savvy P7s who wanted to find out which were the most interesting and challenging roles as well as what happened if a part wasn’t up to standard!
The P7s learned about career pathways with Hyster-Yale and the fact that Mid Ulster is the manufacturing and engineering belt of Northern Ireland.
This brilliantly informative presentation was concluded with a very apt STEM challenge where pupils had to follow a similar pattern of completing tasks and sub tasks to build composite parts of their own Lego forklifts, identifying a missing part and completing a requisition order for it, before final assembly.
All in all, it was a fabulous insight into the workings of a production and assembly line and our children made a lasting memory whilst absorbing the information and insights being provided by Esther and Jason.
With thanks to them both for their visit, we hope to welcome them back next year
