Book Buzz in the mobile library van!
Every day in school, during Guided Reading lessons, the children work hard at all the skills they need to become fluent, capable readers. Right from Foundation Stage with all the work done on pre reading skills, listening, rhyming, letter sounds, through KS1 with lots of work on decoding words and comprehension, the whole way up to KS2 and into P7 where the children are skimming and scanning, retrieving key points from texts and using sophisticated skills.
But as the children go along on their reading journey, developing all these skills, which take so much time to teach, one of the most important things we can do for the children is to give them a love of books and reading.

We try to make time for this in our very busy days. One of our key partners in this aim, is our local library service, so do make sure your child has joined the local library and has a library card! The children love getting out to the mobile library van to pick their own books! Don’t forget you can return your books to any branch of Libraries NI and we love to hear all about our children visiting their local library.
